We have several driveways winding through the front lawn. I want to put down either a concrete or an asphalt drive this spring. Which would last longer and be more serviceable?
I prefer concrete. The lighter color allows it to reflect light instead of absorbing it, so it stays cooler, and it lasts longer than asphalt. The sole advantage of asphalt, as far as I know, is that it's cheaper.
It depends on where you live. If you live where it snows quite a lot in the winter, concrete won't last nearly as long as the asphalt due to plowing. I'm pretty sure that asphalt is more resistant to frost heaves, as well. Why would you have more than one driveway wending across your front lawn?
I would say to go with concrete, because It's more durable and requires less maintenance. I would only go with asphalt if you have a huge driveway, and you can make sure that it is put down the right way.
Brick driveways I've been toying with the idea of having a brick driveway. A development near here has done one, and I really love the way the bricks look. They have this old, Williamsburg-type feel to them. I love the effect. I'm just wondering if they would hold up well.
I'm curious too why you would have more then 1 driveway? We have a circle driveway. Half of it is concrete and half is stone. We have to put a concrete sealer on every year. Other then that it's a great driveway.
Could anyone enlighten me on the technical and operational differences between concrete and asphalt runways? Thanks. Artificial grass suppliers
